AMX KVM Switch System
The Avocent AMX KVM switch is built for remote server access using analog and Cat 5 extension technology. Ther AMX KVM switch uses computer interface units - called dongles - to convert keyboard, video and mouse signals to a format suitable for category 5 cable. AMX KVM matrix hubs switch the analog KVM signals between user consoles and network devices.
Category 5 cable and patch panels provides the infrastructure for remote access to network equipment using the buildings existing network backbone to pass analog KVM signals.
AMX KVM switch user consoles provide hardware level security and can be up to one thousand feet (1000') from the managed equipment. AMX hubs are one or two rack units in height and support eight to sixteen remote user consoles with either 32 or 64 server ports.
